2009 True North Missions News for 2009
Hello from Guatemala,
We just finished the fifth trip of the year to Mayan Indian Villages on the Rio Dulce River and will spend the summer planning trips for fall and spring. The trips were fabulous with teams from Saginaw, Michigan and from
Kirksville, Missouri.
We were able to treat over 3500 patients. We dewormed everyone in the villages and distributed 80,000 vitamins both prenatal and children's.
We are returning to some of the same villages now and are noticing improvements in overall health. The vitamins and worm medications are mostly responsible.
We have been to several villages that have never had a medical team before. These villages are very isolated and require traveling by boat and hiking.
We sometimes work in the village school house or if its real hot, under some trees outside.
I want to thank Synergy Medical Education Alliance of Saginaw for sending 18 physicians this year. They were all wonderful, compassionate and caring doctors.
I also want to thank AT Still University for sending a team of fourth year medical students. They did a great job.
I am hoping to take 6-7 teams starting in the Fall and continuing into the spring of 2010.
Schedule:
October 5-9, 2009 (Full)
April 5-10, 2010 (Full)
April 19-23, 2010 (Still Open)
If you are interested, please keep checking the schedule as more dates will be opened in February and March, 2010.
Thank you for your continued support.
